Filling
Have you ever heard the saying, “You are what you eat?” Last night’s dinner was Red Robin, and thus, a bacon cheeseburger and broccoli filled my tummy. That’s rare because typically we are a chicken and fish-based family. I note this not because the conversation is about what you eat. What today’s topic is what are you filling your mind with. Is it books? Sports? Biblical knowledge? There are lots of answers to that question, and the focus should not be on just what you choose. The most important thing is the result. That’s what today’s devotion is about …
Have Faith
One of my favorite YouTube videos is a clip of a football player whose team had won a game against a team who was thought to be the far better team. As he gets to the microphone, he boasts, “To all the non-believers,” dedicating the win to the motivation provided by all those who doubted them. In life, we all have doubters. Most notably, they are the ones who seemed to have known you the longest. However, there are others who have always believed in the best for you. Today’s devotion is about one of those who has always believed …
Be Aware & Keep Working
My wife is an amazing knitter. She can knit for hours as if it is just a minute in a day. I never certain on what she is making, but there are few things I am certain about. One, it is probably for one of the grandchildren, and two, it will be made with love and care. There are many things we can be uncertain about. Even the most ardent believer once either questioned whether there is a God. What if you still have questions? Well, that’s why we are on this journey, and in it, we can be certain of some things. Here’s a place to start …
Participation Trophy
Everyone wants to win something. Some people are so hung up on it that they will go as far as to say that second place is ‘the first loser.’ What’s worse, no one wants to feel like they are rewarded for just showing up. It’s that latter part that bothers people on the topic of someone getting a ‘participation trophy.’ Sometimes, that criticism is totally warranted. However, what about the child who tries something for the first time and has never gotten anything? What if something becomes the start of a big thing? There is something to be said for ‘just showing up’ particularly when there is effort behind it. Today’s devotion is about how effort, no matter how big or small, leads to greater things …
The Greatest
We all have conversations about what is the greatest of all time. What is the greatest vacation you have been on? What’s the best moment of your life? The list could go on for days, but there can only be one ‘greatest’ of all. In our faith, what is the greatest of all? This special Tuesday edition of ‘Wednesday Wisdom’ explains exactly what that is …
